Romania's Competition Council has authorized the acquisition of Synlab’s Romanian subsidiaries by Medicover, concluding that the transaction poses no risk to competition in the medical services market.
The decision clears the way for Medicover Investment BV—part of the international Medicover Group—to take over the Romanian operations of Synlab International GmbH. The transaction includes the following entities: Synlab West SRL, Laboratoarele Synlab SRL, Zostalab SRL, Medsense Servicii Medicale SRL, CMI Dr Iacobescu C Anca SRL, and CMI Dr Marinescu Dana Mihaela SRL.
According to the authority, the analysis showed that the acquisition would not significantly hinder effective competition in Romania’s healthcare and diagnostic services sector and is deemed compatible with a normally competitive market environment.
Medicover currently operates in Romania through a network of 41 clinics and via Synevo Romania, its diagnostics division. The Synlab companies involved in the acquisition also provide laboratory services and specialized testing across various medical fields.
The Competition Council’s decision will be published on its official website following the removal of any confidential information.
