Bucharest University Emergency Hospital expands medical services with Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB) for thyroid diagnosis

The Bucharest University Emergency Hospital (SUUB) is enhancing its range of medical services by offering patients access to Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB) for thyroid evaluation.
FNAB is a crucial diagnostic tool for the early detection of thyroid conditions, including thyroid cancer.
This minimally invasive procedure is considered the “gold standard” in assessing thyroid nodules and is available free of charge through the Romanian National Health Insurance (CNAS). Patients can benefit from this service both during hospitalization and as an outpatient procedure with prior scheduling.
The service includes:
- Thyroid and lymph node ultrasound
- Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration
- Specialized cytological analysis
Patients will receive expert care from a multidisciplinary team of endocrinologists, surgeons, and pathologists, ensuring rapid diagnosis and personalized treatment solutions.
“With the introduction of this service, we aim to provide patients with a safe and effective method for early detection of thyroid conditions. Our primary goal remains the health and safety of those who seek our care,” SUUB representatives stated.
For appointments and further information, patients are encouraged to contact the hospital’s Clinical Endocrinology Department.
